Mourning a Loss

Waisman Center Community Outreach Wisconsin mourns the loss of Chantel Charity Brown who passed away on May 31st. Chantel was the founder of the Fashion Show for All Abilities organized by the Waisman Center for eleven years, a joyful and inspiring community event featuring fashion models with and without disabilities.  The Fashion Show – held at the Monona Terrace Convention Center – was supported by numerous  Madison area retailers, countless volunteers and drew an audience of  several hundred attendees every year.

COVID-19 Practices

Updated 04/03/2025

feguarding the health and well-being of individuals we serve and our dedicated staff. We implemented some important changes and were happy when Community Outreach Wisconsin staff were able to have in person contact with participants and families again.

Below you will find updated information about our respective programs and an abbreviated overview of our current protocols:

  • Our Olin office is open again for visitors. Community Outreach Wisconsin staff have the option to work out of their respective homes to reduce the total number of staff present in our office at any given time. N-95 or surgical masks are available to staff and visitors.
  • Team meetings for all programs can continue via conference calls or online meeting apps. Community Outreach Wisconsin staff are happy to host HIPAA compliant virtual meetings. Small in-person meetings are also possible at Olin Avenue in our shared conference room.
  • The TIES clinic has returned to a combination of in-person and tele health appointments.
  • Community Trainings are offered in-person again. Some trainings can be provided in an online format.
  • Community Outreach staff will work remotely when symptomatic and are provided with face masks, hand sanitizer, and necessary cleaning/disinfecting supplies. WIN nurses have access to additional PPE.

We will continue to monitor state and local data, follow CDC, DHS, City of Madison, and Dane County Public Health guidelines and will adjust our practices as needed.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions. We can be reached at our typical phone numbers and email addresses.
